MASTER OF MUSIC


Jos Kamps (Sittard, The Netherlands) graduated with honors from Codarts University of the Arts as the first ‘Master of Music’ electric bass, student of Michel van Schie (Anouk, The Voice, Candy Dulfer), with drums as a second instrument. Jos also studied (Communication in Arts) at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark and (Music Management) at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA).

Jos is a much sought-after session bass player with backing vocals in mainly pop music. He performed and toured around the world with many popular artists like Blaudzun, Rowwen Hèze, Eric Steckel (USA), Anita Doth (2 Unlimited/nono2solo), Doni Hagan (Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Bill Withers, George Michael), Doug Rappoport (USA), Alastair Greene (The Alan Parsons Project), Jared James Nichols (USA), Stef Burns (Alice Cooper), Juan van Emmerloot (Steve Lukather, Snowy White), JP Cervoni (Buddy Miles), Jordi Martin (DJ Sam Feldt), Träcksäck, Frederike Schonis, Guus Bok, Jambassadors, including TV appearances (FOX TV) and showcases like the famous NAMM show (Los Angeles). 

Jos is endorsed by Knaggs Guitars (USA), Mezzabarba (IT), OwnGuitarPicks (UK) and performs with vintage Fender basses from the 60’s and Moog synthesizers as well. Jos is known for his versatility, open mind and sophisticated way of playing.

Jos taught pop music at international level at professional institutes like Fontys Rockacademie, Herman Brood Academie, Zadkine Popacademie, Albeda Musician/Producer, Codarts University of the Arts, Bax Music, ArtEZ University of the Arts and Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory in Nepal. Jos is CEO at Bandcoach.nl, a leading band & artist coaching company in The Netherlands. He is a lecturer artist coaching at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam and executive director for BassAcademy.com®.

Because of his years of experience as a multi-instrumentalist, worldwide touring musician and lecturer in all types of professional, academic music education, Jos is frequently invited as a coach, guest teacher, musical director, concept developer and speaker. He specializes in artist coaching and entrepreneurship in the cultural field.

MANAGEMENT


Jos studied (Communication in Arts) at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark and (Music Management) at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA). In 2017 he became manager for the music department of SKVR Rotterdam, the largest center of the arts in Europe. Shortly after, he was challenged to develop and manage many more international business concepts and start-ups in the cultural field. In 2022 he obtained two patents on models and applications for online courses and webshops for cultural education. Jos is available as an interim project manager, concept developer and external expert.
