Jos Kamps (Sittard, The Netherlands) graduated with honors from Codarts University of the Arts as the first ‘Master of Music’ in electric bass, studying under the legendary Michel van Schie (Anouk, The Voice, Candy Dulfer), with drums as his secondary instrument. Additionally, he pursued studies in Communication in Arts at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark and Music Management at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA).
As a highly sought-after session bass player and backing vocalist, Jos is primarily active in the pop/rock music scene. He has toured and performed worldwide with renowned artists including Blaudzun, Rowwen Hèze, Eric Steckel (USA), Anita Doth (2 Unlimited/nono2solo), Doni Hagan (Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Bill Withers, George Michael), Doug Rappoport (USA), Alastair Greene (The Alan Parsons Project), Jared James Nichols (USA), Stef Burns (Alice Cooper), Juan van Emmerloot (Steve Lukather, Snowy White), JP Cervoni (Buddy Miles), Jordi Martin (DJ Sam Feldt), Träcksäck, Frederike Schonis, Guus Bok, Jambassadors. His career includes TV appearances (FOX TV) and showcases at major industry events, such as the NAMM show (Los Angeles).
Jos is endorsed by Knaggs Guitars (USA), Mezzabarba (IT), OwnGuitarPicks (UK). He performs on Knaggs and vintage Fender basses from the 1960’s and incorporates Moog synthesizers into his arsenal. Known for his versatility, open-minded approach and sophisticated playing style, he continues to make his mark in the music industry.
Beyond performing, Jos has taught pop music at an international level at leading institutions including Fontys Rockacademie, Herman Brood Academie, Zadkine Popacademie, Albeda Musician/Producer, Codarts University of the Arts, Bax Music, ArtEZ University of the Arts and Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory in Nepal. Jos is the manager of Bandcoach.nl, a leading band & artist coaching company in The Netherlands. He is also a lecturer in artist coaching at Codarts University of the Arts and serves as executive director of BassAcademy.com.
